Signing off for today and this business week I suppose it’s about time to look at the final results of the last opinion poll that ran on the MNO TalkBack<\/a> page during the last week and replace it with another new question. More on that in just a moment, first let’s see the results. With the autumn season getting started in earnest now that the equinox is behind us and a noticeable recovery well underway in the HYIP industry it seems that now is as good a time as any for regular investors to start looking into a serious expansion of their portfolios. But with so many good new programs competing for your money, I was wondering what would be a typical opening investment for MNO readers once they’ve decided to join something? Sure, I know I’m always repeating the mantra \u201cnever spend what you can’t afford to lose<\/em>\u201d but that’s not exactly the same fixed sum of money for every individual. The exact question asked of readers was as follows: What is your average first deposit with a HYIP you are joining for the first time?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was quite a wide spread of votes between the various answers that were available for you to choose from, but for the most part it seems people are quite conservative, maybe sensible is a better word, at least for their first investment anyway. Maybe they like to up the ante a little bit when they feel more comfortable that the program can perform, that’s a question for another day, but for their opening investment some 46%<\/strong> of you claim it as \u201cMinimum \u2013 I’ll check it out with $50 or less<\/em>\u201d. Maybe that’s just being overly cautious, maybe that’s what you can best afford, but if it’s a strategy that works for you then fine. A significant majority of readers, 27%<\/strong> of you are also careful according to what your own definition of that word is and what amount of money you consider affordable. They took the option of being \u201cCautious \u2013 over $50 but not more that $150<\/em>\u201d for a first time deposit. 20%<\/strong> of readers seem happy to embrace the more gambling centric nature of the HYIP industry, accepting and acknowledging it from the word go by saying their own opening investment with a new program involves \u201cMore risk \u2013 I’ll spend from $150 to $500<\/em>\u201d. The remaining 7% of you? Well, what can I say? An utterly swashbuckling and cavalier 7%<\/strong> of readers happily throw caution to the wind and say a first investment for them involves \u201cHigh risk \u2013 $500 plus, to make more money<\/em>\u201d. Again, with no right answers and no wrong answers it’s just a matter of what your spare disposable income is, how fast you can replace it if things don’t go to plan, and settling on a strategy that works best for you.<\/p>\n

And now as they say for something completely different. BitCoin \u2013 never far from the headlines even in the mainstream financial media these days and for something so relatively new it already seems to have a long and rich history. Its impact on the HYIP industry has been quite profound, and even that at best is quite an obscure and minority activity in the greater scheme of things. But when barbers and taxi drivers start making conversation about it, even offering some ill advised \u201ctips\u201d, you know it’s no longer the cult underground secret it once was. If it’s got a Wikipedia page and you overhear conversations about it on public transport, it’s here to stay.<\/p>\n

Personally I think it’s a fine idea in theory but it hasn’t quite worked out the way (we were told) BitCoin was intended. Unregulated and ungoverned by central banks and government or not, the fact is that at the core of the BitCoin concept is that it’s supposed to be a currency. Just like dollars and euros and roubles and yuan, Gambian dalasi for that matter, you should be able to walk into a physical business location, buy what you need, pay in BitCoin, and leave. Trouble is that’s not really the way it’s done. Rather than a fluid currency for day-to-day purchases, expenses, etc, the number of offline and online businesses using BitCoin as a payment system remains minimal (and dropping I believe) due to lengthy waiting times, lack of chargebacks, processing charges, etc. all eating into profit margins. The end result of this is that overwhelming majority of BitCoin users are using it purely for speculation. They don’t buy or sell and products or services using BitCoin as a currency, they simply buy and sell BitCoin by itself as a form of gambling and speculation. This in turn leads to the mind boggling levels of fluctuation in exchange rates, further compounding BitCoin’s lack of general acceptance among legitimate mainstream business owners and traders.<\/p>\n

The long and the short of it is, over the last couple of years when BitCoin has become basically a tool for speculators and not and actual currency, despite even The Financial Times newspaper reporting exchange rates for them in their ForEx section, its value has been subject to some dizzying peaks and troughs. Maybe we’ve all heard the stories about people buying what at the time was just $5 or $10 worth of BTC, forgetting about it, rediscovering it two or three years later, and buying five bedroom houses in expensive ski and beach resorts with the profit. Easy to be jealous but let’s be honest, they are very much a handful of people, almost none of whom actually expected this to happen. Whatever, good luck to them I say! But what about the rest of us in the HYIP industry?<\/p>\n

In this case we aren’t talking about legit business of course, it’s something all together more underground and people who are happy to work with that. OK, but what impact do you think such enormous swings in exchange rates has on the HYIP industry? Just this week alone the value has dropped by 20% (from about $10K to $8K). Just to put that into perspective, if the dollar or the euro dropped by even 1% in the same period there would be an international outcry. So what does the last price drop mean for the HYIP industry since this is more or less what we are concerned about here. My question for readers is this:<\/p>\n

How will the recent drop in BitCoin value affect the HYIP industry in your opinion?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Possible answers can be taken from the following options. Remember there are no exact right or wrong answers, just pick the one that best matches your views:<\/p>\n

– Positively, experienced admins will take advantage of that to last longer
\n– Negatively, many unscrupulous admins will disappear with the money
