This week has clearly confirmed the long-term upward trend for all the major cryptocurrencies with BTC reaching a $65K all-time price record with Ethereum breaking the $2.5K threshold<\/strong><\/em> for the first time ever as well. \nMNO TALKBACK<\/a> \u2013 RESULTS DRAWN AND NEW QUESTION POSTED<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To finish things up for today I think it’s about the right time now to look at the final results of the most recent MNO TalkBack<\/a> opinion poll. I’ll also be replacing it with another new question, but more on that in a few moments. The most recent question then was never exactly what I’d describe as a burning issue affecting the online HYIP world, although it is a discussion that has come up many times in recent years as the cryptocurrency trading and exchange industry moves more and more into mainstream business. I’m talking here of course about everyone’s favorite topic \u2013 income tax. There is of course the famous old clich\u00e9 about death and taxes being the only two certainties in life, though perhaps for now that doesn’t always apply to online virtual business where no physical product is involved and international borders and government jurisdictions count for next to nothing.<\/p>\n

We can speculate as to why that is, though honestly it’s a question for another day. Myself, I would say that technology and developments in private peer-to-peer online (or even call it underground if you prefer) business tends to run and stay far ahead of the knowledge and experience of an older generation who legislate for such things. Put simply, the people responsible for taxing any profits you make from online HYIPs usually wouldn’t have the faintest idea of what the whole business is about, never mind being able to control and regulate it.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I don’t want to drift too far away from the point. After all, the question I asked had nothing to do with the reasons you don’t routinely get taxed on any income you are making from online HYIPs, it was more of a theoretical question as to whether you think you should actually be paying taxes or not. To be more exact, this is what was put to MNO readers in the last opinion poll: Do you think users should be taxed on earnings from HYIPs or cryptocurrencies?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly this was a fairly one sided affair! An overwhelming 83%<\/strong> of MNO readers expressed the view \u201cNo, not at all, it’s not the point of online HYIPs to be taxed<\/em>\u201d. I suppose that’s perfectly understandable given the reasons why most people get involved in the online HYIP industry to begin with. Financial independence from business and government might be the ultimate dream, but in the meantime while you are still working towards it everyone needs to subsidize their incomes at least once in a while, especially if you have responsibilities to family, so you do what you can and don’t appreciate any outside interference.<\/p>\n

At the other end of the scale the remaining 17%<\/strong> of readers seemed to take a more civic minded approach by responding \u201cYes, it’s only fair that everyone pays income tax on earnings<\/em>\u201d. Entirely up to yourselves I guess if you wish to volunteer that information to you local tax authorities either directly or via your business accountant should you have one. I know that in some countries the main motivation for paying taxes is simply the fear of what might happen to you if you don’t pay those taxes, but just don’t expect a bailout or a write-off in the event of suffering any losses!<\/p>\n

For the record and to keep things transparent I want to remind readers that there was a third option you could have voted for, \u201cMaybe, but only if the entire business was regulated equally<\/em>\u201d, but it received zero support. Not surprising since the complete regulation of the online HYIP industry would be impossible and a colossal waste of time to even try.<\/p>\n

Time now to move on to the next MNO TalkBack<\/a> question, and I want to stay broadly on the subject of cryptocurrencies and the HYIP industry, though this time more so on the effect the former is having on the latter right now. It’s old news to tell you about the value of BitCoin at the moment, it’s even discussed in mainstream media, suffice to say it’s explosive now and going through the roof. At the time of writing the BTC exchange rate is a little short of $61,000, which to put in perspective was \u201conly\u201d $20,000 during the last time we saw an extended growth bubble.<\/p>\n

My question for this weeks poll then, aimed I guess at a largely HYIP orientated and focused audience, is what kind of an impact is this having on regular HYIP players. Do you think former investors are abandoning HYIPs to concentrate more on cryptocurrency trading?<\/strong><\/em> Or maybe people are combining both activities, exploiting the rising cost of BTC to maximize HYIP earnings?<\/em><\/strong> Or perhaps you just dismiss the whole cryptocurrency phenomenon as a fad and a bubble to be avoided or at least treated with caution lest it do more harm than good to you finances?<\/strong> <\/em>After all, previous experience in this field tells us that bubbles collapse a hell of a lot faster than they expand, and no one wants to spend $1,000 on a commodity worth $100 just 24 hours later.<\/p>\n

My exact question to MNO readers therefore will be as follows;<\/p>\n
